2012 Lifesaving Camps
These 40-hour camps provide participants with the opportunity to become certified in various Lifesaving Society programs. Lifesaving Camps include all-you-can-eat lunch at the Carleton Residence cafeteria and a camp T-shirt. Get all the details in our 2012 March Break Lifesaving Camp Flyer.

Junior Lifeguard Camp (JLC) Serious fun; that’s the Junior Lifeguard Club in a nutshell. A serious purpose, lifesaving, coached in a fun way. Junior Lifeguards will be introduced to the 3-level Canadian Swim Patrol program (Rookie, Ranger and Star Patrol). The JLC is a place for kids 9 to 11 years to: * learn about lifesaving and lifeguarding * experience lifeguarding in a ‘Club’ atmosphere * make friends and have a great time * get fit and strive for personal bests * begin to progress through the 3-level Swim Patrol program * prepare for Bronze Star. Bronze Star and Basic First Aid with CPR-A This fun filled camp offers a great balance of lifesaving and leadership building activities. This is an excellent preparation for success in Bronze Medallion. The camp is designed to develop problem-solving and decision-making skills both individually and in partners. Candidates begin developing the skills needed to be their own lifeguard. Recommended for those 10-12 years who can swim 300 meters.Junior Lifeguard Camp and Bronze Star + Basic First Aid CPR-A
Bronze Medallion and Emergency First Aid with CPR-B

This camp certifies participants in both Bronze Medallion and Emergency First Aid with CPR-C. Participants are provided with the knowledge, skill, fitness and judgment required to respond to complex water rescue situations in a fun filled campsetting! Participants learn tows, carries, defense methods and releases in preparation for challenging rescues of increased risk involving conscious, unconscious, and injured victim types.
Prerequisite(s): Bronze Star or 13 years old by the exam.
Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid with CPR-C

This camp certifies candidates with both Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid with CPR-C. This course designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities.
Prerequisite(s): Bronze Medallion and Emergency First Aid with CPR-B.
National Lifeguard Service (NLS)

National Lifeguard training builds on the fundamental skills taught in the Bronze program and equips candidates with the practical skills and knowledge required of lifeguards. This course is designed for lifesavers who want to seek employment in Lifeguarding locally or across Canada.
Prerequisites(s): Bronze Cross and CURRENT Standard First Aid with CPR-C.
