Camp Overview
This camp is designed for teenagers who are interested in acquiring skills that will be useful in obtaining a future summer job. The camp concentrates on leadership skills, safety supervision for instructional programs, teamwork, communication, fitness, emergency procedures and systems, lesson plan organization and development, and skill teaching. The camp focuses on both theory and practical development. Each participant will be assessed on his/her strengths and weaknesses and given an evaluation at the end of the camp.
In recent years, the Leadership Camp has also included a community component. This past summer, the Carleton Leadership Camp raised over $3000 for the charity Right to Play (http://www.righttoplay.com) . The camp experience was also enriched by many guest speakers, including Olympic kayaking champion Adam Van Koeverden, Olympic hockey champion Katie Weatherstone (speaking on behalf of Clean Air Acheivers), and various accomplished Carleton Sports alumnus.
