Deferred Final Examinations for 2012 winter term courses will be held June 11-21, 2012. Deferred Examinations approved to be written off-campus will be written on the same date and time as the campus examinations, unless otherwise noted with the information confirming your location. The schedule will be posted by May 29, 2012 through Carleton Central. Please take the time to review the exam rules and procedures before this or any other Carleton examination. From this site you can also access the public view of the Deferred Examination schedule if necessary.
When you applied to write a Deferred Exam, you had the option of choosing to write off-campus. If you either did not choose this option and now wish to apply for it, or if you now want to change the location from your original choice, you have up to the deadline indicated below to request an off-campus exam arrangement. There are different deadlines and instructions when asking to write either WITHIN or OUTSIDE Canada. Please ensure you follow the appropriate procedure below: (Note: there will be a processing fee per exam charged to your student account for this arrangement.)
1) Writing WITHIN Canada:
- The deadline to apply to write a deferred final examination off-campus within Canada is May 16, 2012.
- Information about where to report for your exam will be available here on May 31, 2012 at (Click on the city you chose in your application.)
- Please note: we will select an approved testing facility within a 160km radius of the city that you chose.
- Any cancellation of such arrangement must be made in writing and emailed to examinations@carleton.ca. Fee refunds for cancellation notices of fewer than 48 business hours will not be possible in the majority of cases, and in some cases cancellation notice of fewer than 72 hours will result in only a partial refund – depending on the refund policy of the host test centre.
2) Writing OUTSIDE Canada:
- Arrangements with invigilators outside of Canada must be confirmed with Scheduling and Examination Services at Carleton no later than May 14, 2012. It is each student’s responsibility to take this timeline into consideration when negotiating such arrangements.
- If you wish to write your Deferred Final Examination(s) OUTSIDE Canada you must find a university or college that is willing to arrange for staff invigilation of your exam(s) at their institution.
- By May 14, 2012 the invigilator at the selected institution must contact our office directly to obtain our approval as a testing agent for Carleton University. They must use official university or college letterhead and indicate their position with the institution, state their willingness to supervise your exam(s) and provide full contact details: office mailing address*, telephone number, fax number and institutional email address, as well as details on any fees associated with providing invigilation services, stating the currency that is being used.
(*mailing address must be a street/building address as courier services do not deliver to P.O. Box numbers).
- We cannot proceed with your arrangements to write off-campus until the invigilator has mailed, faxed or sent as an email attachment, the details mentioned above, to my attention at the address below. Confirmation of the arrangements will be sent to you at your Carleton email address.
