Carleton students are encouraged to consider applying for an external award to help finance their graduate studies. These awards are provided by an organization, agency or council outside of Carleton and require a separate application — often 1 full year before the award begins.

Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS)
Value:  $5,000 per term
Duration:  2 or 3 consecutive terms
Eligibility:  Students pursuing graduate studies at the master’s or doctoral level. See full criteria on the OGS website.
Deadline:  Feb. 1, 2013

Value: $17,300 to $35,000 per year

Eligibility: A degree in science or engineering
Available only to programs of study that include significant research training
An exceptionally high potential for future research achievement and productivity
Deadline:

PhD Students Only

Ontario Trillium Scholarship (OTS) Vanier Scholarship
Value: $40,000 per year
$50,000 per year
Duration: Renewable for 4 years
3 years
Eligibility: An international student on the first day of classes
Full-time PhD students who are recommended by their department. Must be coming to Carleton from elsewhere in Canada or internationally
Deadline: November 6, 2012 (submitted to Leslie Main in FGPA by Sept. 20, 2012)
Ontario Trillium Scholarships are awarded to highly qualified international students and you will need to apply directly through your department.
