Course registration begins on July 6, 2012
for the Fall 2012 term.
Registration at Carleton is done online through Carleton Central, Carleton’s secure online center for student registration and administrative activities. It is your one-stop service for registration, student records, admission, and fee information.
- New Students: You will not be able to register for courses until you have accepted your offer of admission. If you were conditionally admitted, you will need to meet the conditions of your offer in order to register.
- Returning Students: If you have exceeded the time limit allocated for the completion of your graduate program, you will not be able to register until an extension has been approved by your department and the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs. If you have a previous balance on your student account registration may be prevented.
For information regarding which courses you are required to register in, please contact the Graduate Administrator in the academic department you have been admitted in to. You will also want to review the important dates from the Graduate Calendar for appropriate dates and deadlines.
Carleton Email Account
To protect your privacy, the only email account Carleton will use when communicating with you is your Carleton account. Make sure to activate your account and monitor it frequently for important updates on academic affairs. Learn More
Tuition Fees
Student Accounts Receivable is responsible for receiving payment of tuition fees. They are also responsible for responding to questions you may have about your tuition fees. Tuition fee amounts, late charges and other fees and charges can be found on their website. The deadline to pay your tuition fees is at the end of August. Learn More
Public Class Schedule
You don’t need a student account to access the class schedule. Using our public class schedule, you can query the schedule database in the same way as if you were logged into the system.
International Graduate Students
The Certificate of Exemption from International Tuition Fees form applies to graduate, as well as undergraduate, students. If any of the criteria (check boxes) stated on this form apply to you, you may be eligible to pay domestic rather than international student tuition fees. If you think you are eligible, please fill in this form and drop it off, along with the necessary supporting documentation, to the information desk of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs, 512 Tory Building. Registration Schedule
All new and returning graduate students can begin registering for Fall and Winter courses in July. Registration is divided into blocks called time-tickets which indicates when you can begin accessing the registration system. Although you can register for courses any time after your time-ticket, you are strongly encouraged to register as soon as your time-ticket begins. Learn More
Thesis, Research Essay, or Independent Research Project
Students registering in a thesis, research essay, or independent research project must maintain continuous registration until their thesis, research essay or independent research project is completed. Continuous registration is not automatic and it is your responsibility to ensure you are registered appropriately in each academic term.
Exchange Students
If you are registering in another university as part of a student exchange, you are required to fill out the appropriate Exchange Program Forms. You should also note the appropriate registration deadlines at the host institution.
