Amelia Curran wins EDC Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award

Sociology PhD student Amelia Curran is one of this year’s winners of the Educational Development Centre’s Outstanding Teaching Assistant award is an annual award given out to a maximum of five teaching assistants who have excelled in their duties. The awards recognize the contributions of Carleton’s teaching assistant community to the learning experiences of students through the lens of subject knowledge, approachability, grading, teaching / communication, and overall effectiveness. Nominations for the award are submitted by faculty, students and staff and evaluated by a committee comprised of EDC staff, as well as former winners of the award. The Outstanding Teaching Assistant awards are handed out in April at the Educational Development Centre’s end of year excellence reception and includes a framed certificate and a $250 bursary.
