CU Unplugged Student Concert Series

Come out and enjoy CU Unplugged, a relaxing student concert in Rooster’s Coffeehouse. Enjoy music, the chance to win prizes, as well as complimentary tea for everyone the entire evening on February 9th beginning at 9:30 p.m.

Performers can sign-up in the Student Experience Office located at 430 Tory Building.

With up to 12 different performances by your peers lined up, ranging from singing to acoustic guitars to rap, the evening will certainly to be blast.

Apply To Be A Fall Orientation Volunteer!

Applications are now being accepted for a variety of roles for CUSA/RRRA/SEO Fall Orientation Week. Fall Orientation is a one week program at the beginning of the fall semester for new students, focusing on the holistic integration into the Carleton Community through social, academic and cultural events

Fall Orientation Volunteers will have the opportunity to get involved in student life on campus, meet a new and diverse group of people and assist with the transition process into university for new students.

Interested applicants can drop off their application forms to the CUSA office located at 401 University Centre. Please visit the website for complete details on the positions available and for the application form.

International Development Week (IDW) 2012, February 5 to 10

IDW allows for members of the Carleton community to develop greater international understanding, while learning about different opportunities to become engaged as global citizens. The International Student Services Office, in collaboration with other university partners, including student clubs and other university departments, have put together a list of events for the community to become engaged. Through a Global Lens Photo Exhibit and Winners Announcement

Visit the fourth floor of the University Centre from Monday, February 6 to Wednesday February 8, to vote for your favorite photos amongst close to 450 photographs submitted by members of the Carleton community sharing their experiences abroad. The winners of the competition will be announced on Thursday, February 9, at 3:00 p.m., at the exhibit.

Campus2Career starts in March, but registration opened February 1 and there’s something for everyone!

On February 6, a random selection of 1,500 final-year students will be sent an invitation to their Carleton email address to participate in the Canadian Undergraduate Survey Consortium (CUSC). If you have received an invitation to this survey, please take the time to fill it out!

Be on the watch for the promo team in Learning Support Services

If you haven’t already spotted them in their Carleton red t-shirts and benefited from their expertise, be on the lookout for Learning Support Services staff who are out and around campus (residence commons, athletics, Loeb, and Tory) throughout the term.

The helpful staff can help you connect with the various academic support resources available through SASC and have plenty of “top 10 tips” as well as other information about all of LSS’ programs and services.

CCS Offers Mac Support

On site support for Mac Desktops (iMac) and Notebooks (MacBook Pro, MacBook Air) is available every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 – noon at 1251 Herzberg.

At this time, support services for Mac will include hardware warranty repairs, hardware upgrades / repairs, software images and general software support.  For more information, please contact Hardware Services at 613.520.2600 x4063.

In addition, CCS Service Desk Support is available at 509 MacOdrum Library to help you configure your Mac on Carleton’s wired and wireless networks, as well as configure your email.  For more information, please contact CCS Service Desk at 613.520.3700.

Department of Housing Summer Program Assistant

We are currently hiring for our Summer Program Assistant positions. The deadline for completed applications is Tuesday February 14, 2012 at 12 p.m. A complete application includes the application form, answers to the essay questions and an updated resume with references.

Applications are to be submitted to Natalie Allan through the Department of Housing and Conference Services at 261 Stormont House. Successful applicants will be contacted for an interview, which includes presenting a program to the hiring board that you wish to implement should you be selected. Presentations should include multimedia and a handout.
